Resource-efficient waste recycling

6.10.2019

In the manufacture of long products except lump scrap (can be recycled without significant loss in quality) are often produced soft scrap, sludge and powders.

The rolling or grinding process produces hazardous waste, which is difficult to recycle due to moisture and oil content. These waste sludge and powders contain valuable metal residues such as nickel, titanium or chromium. These materials are often lost as a result of disposal in landfills or incinerators. Existing recycling solutions are often inadequate and lead to material quality detriment.

For this reason are required innovative technologies in this area. Sludge after grinding, scale and other metal waste can be recycled at constant quality in the Cronimet Envirotec GmbH vacuum distillation plant. Vacuum prevents the oxidation of metals, which does not change the properties of the materials. Liquid and solids are separated by an energy-efficient process which, in addition to oil and water, produces a metal powder that can be further recycled in an innovative briquetting plant. Thanks to their high strength and quality, metal briquettes can be returned to the production cycle without further process steps.

Reducing the waste, increasing sustainability and added value these are the benefits of innovative technologies compared with other waste disposal methods for metalworking enterprises. Furthermore there is no need to further process the output materials, transportation is eliminated, and CO2 emissions and costs are not incurred.
Sludge and powder can be reused as metallic materials. There can be offered as an alternative to lump scrap and raw materials.
