18.3.2019

The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has recently published figures on global stainless steel production during the first six months of the year 2018.

The production data showed a remarkable increase of 13.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. According to ISSF, global stainless steel production in the first half of 2018 climbed just below 26.1 million tonnes. As expected, China's growth was 13.2% to 13.6 million tonnes.

The production in Asia (except China and South Korea) achieved 4.2 million tonnes compared with the same period of the previous year. It means that production significantly increased by 5.6%. On the other hand Europe and the United States recorded a slight increase (1,4 -1,6%). The higher increase was again attributed to the „Other Countries“, where production increased by 68%.
