Another Step in the Electrification of CRONIMET Ostrava

21.8.2026

The CRONIMET Group has committed, through its CRONIMET 2030 strategy, to electrification and a transition to electricity from non-fossil sources. CRONIMET Ostrava is actively implementing this strategy. As part of electrification, at the end of 2023 it replaced two diesel-powered forklift trucks with electric forklift trucks of the Still brand, models RX60-50 and RX60-35L.

The next step is the gradual replacement of company vehicles with diesel and petrol engines by new vehicles with hybrid or electric drive. At present, the company has two plug-in hybrid vehicles with CO2 emissions of up to 50 g/km and one fully electric vehicle.

A new addition at CRONIMET Ostrava will be the new SENNEBOGEN 826 G Electro Battery excavator. This model offers high load capacity and a reach of up to 13 metres. High system performance and optimized hydraulics ensure maximum efficiency, while excellent responsiveness enables fast and precise working processes. The latest-generation SENcon intelligent control system installed in the machine allows intuitive and customized operation for both the operator and specific applications, while also offering remote maintenance options. The machine is equipped with a battery-electric drive, operates entirely without direct CO2 emissions, and is expected to reduce CO2 production by up to 60 tonnes per year. Lower operating costs are also expected, as the service requirements of Electro Battery models are very low and there is no need to refill fossil fuels such as diesel or operating fluids such as engine oils.

This new type of excavator was tested for several months for the CRONIMET Group at CRONIMET Ferroleg. Colleagues from various branches were part of the testing group. On behalf of CRONIMET Ostrava, Petr Polák, Operations Manager, participated in the testing over the long term, along with machine operator René Olich.

“The modernization of the entire site and our investments in technology represent much more to us than simply fulfilling the Group’s investment and strategic goals. Above all, they are an expression of our inner conviction that the right long-term path is one based on responsibility, quality, efficiency, and respect for the environment in which we operate. Every step we take in developing the site is seen not only as a technical or operational improvement, but also as confirmation of how we want to lead our company — thoughtfully, steadily, and with a clear vision for the future. It is not enough merely to achieve goals. What matters is having the certainty that we are achieving them in the right way, for the right reasons, and in the right direction. This inner mindset is precisely what drives us. It motivates us to do things honestly, with long-term responsibility and with the awareness that every right decision made today creates a stronger foundation for the future of the entire company.”
says Lucie Milatová, Managing Director of CRONIMET Ostrava.

With this further step, we aim not only to fulfil the CRONIMET Group’s 2030 strategy, but also to contribute to meeting the binding targets of the European Union. According to the revised Renewable Energy Directive (EU/2023/2413), the EU’s binding target for the share of renewable energy by 2030 was increased to at least 42.5% of the energy mix, compared to the previous 32%, with the ambition of reaching as much as 45%.

We look forward to this further step in the company’s modernization and believe that it will bring not only long-term operational benefits, but also economic benefits.
